How is it going? Exhibition Identity Design

An Innovative Approach to Exhibition Promotion

The How is it going? exhibition identity design project, created by Daeki Shim, Jin Jung, and Jinsoo Seo, showcases a unique and captivating approach to promoting the first exhibition of the design group. Inspired by the ever-changing world around us, this project aims to provide a fresh perspective on the evolution of our daily environment. Through the use of striking visuals and thoughtful design, the exhibition identity serves as a guide map for visitors, inviting them to explore the exhibition and engage with the showcased works.

This exhibition identity design project was commissioned for the inaugural exhibition of the How is it going? design group in 2005. The designers drew inspiration from the graphics typically found on guidance signs at road maintenance and repair sites in Korea. By incorporating these elements into the posters, flyers, and tickets, the design team created a cohesive visual language that not only promotes the exhibition but also serves as a navigational tool for visitors.

The team utilized Adobe Illustrator to bring their vision to life, meticulously crafting each illustrated image. The poster measures W 688 mm x H 973 mm, the flyer measures W 297 mm x H 420 mm, and the ticket measures W 210 mm x H 90 mm, ensuring that each piece is visually impactful and attention-grabbing.

One of the major challenges faced during the project was capturing the essence of the exhibition identity through promotional photographs. After several days of searching, the team discovered a construction site that perfectly complemented the design aesthetic. The resulting photographs became an integral part of the exhibition's online and print promotion, further enhancing the overall experience for visitors.

The How is it going? exhibition identity design project was completed in June 2005 in Seoul and was exhibited at the Zero one Design Center in July 2005. The project was a testament to the designers' dedication to exploring the rapid changes happening in our world and their commitment to presenting these changes through innovative design.

This exceptional design project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2016 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. The award recognizes designs that demonstrate excellence in both form and function, meeting professional and industrial requirements while also contributing to a better world.
